Brunei is a visa-waiver country for New Zealand. Brunei citizens do not need a traditional visa for short visits — but you must obtain a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before departure. The NZeTA applies to tourism, business, and transit travel and is mandatory since October 2019.
Apply entirely online in under 20 minutes. Your approved NZeTA for Brunei is delivered by email and electronically linked to your passport — no printout required.
Step 1: Complete the Online Form
Fill in your full name, Brunei passport details, date of birth, contact information, and travel itinerary. The form is straightforward and takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Step 2: Answer Health & Character Questions
Respond accurately to all health and character assessment questions. Providing false information can lead to denial of your NZeTA or cancellation of an approved one.
Step 3: Pay the Application Fee
Pay the NZeTA service fee and the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) securely by credit or debit card. Review all details — payments are non-refundable.
Step 4: Receive NZeTA by Email
Once approved, your NZeTA is emailed and electronically linked to your Brunei passport. Show your passport at check-in — no printed copy needed.
Valid Brunei passport with at least 6 months validity beyond NZ departure
At least one blank page in passport for stamps
Recent passport-size photograph
Valid email address to receive NZeTA approval
Credit or debit card for fee payment
Be in good health without serious communicable diseases
Not pose a risk to security or public order in New Zealand
No criminal record or visa violations in any country

The NZeTA for Brunei grants multiple entries to New Zealand over a 2-year validity period. You can travel to New Zealand, then visit nearby destinations like Fiji or Australia, and return to New Zealand again — all on the same NZeTA, as long as each stay does not exceed 90 days and the NZeTA remains valid. If you renew your Brunei passport, a new NZeTA linked to the new passport is required.
Passport validity of at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from New Zealand.
A confirmed return or onward transit ticket on arrival in New Zealand.
Demonstrable sufficient finances to cover all costs during your stay.
Must not pose a risk to security, public order, or law enforcement.
No serious communicable diseases or expected major medical issues.
No criminal record and no history of violating visa conditions in any country.
Must not join any paid or volunteer organisation in New Zealand.
