Cyprus is a visa-waiver country, meaning Cypriot citizens do not need a traditional New Zealand visa for short visits. However, the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is mandatory for all Cypriot passport holders before boarding a flight or cruise to New Zealand.
The NZeTA is a pre-travel electronic authorisation linked directly to your passport. It covers tourism, business meetings, and transit through Auckland. The application is done entirely online — no embassy visit, no paper forms.
Important: Apply for your NZeTA at least 72 hours before departure. Even though most applications are approved faster, allow time for any manual review. You will not be permitted to board without an approved NZeTA.

You are eligible for a New Zealand eTA if you:
Hold a valid Cypriot passport
Are travelling for tourism, business or transit
Plan to stay no more than 90 days per visit
Have no criminal convictions ≥12 months sentence
Are in good health with no public health risk

Multiple entries permitted within the 2-year validity
If your passport expires, your NZeTA becomes void — reapply
Australian permanent residents (any passport) are exempt
Children and infants require their own individual NZeTA
In addition to the NZeTA application fee, Cypriot citizens must also pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL). This levy applies to most international visitors and is collected as part of the online NZeTA application.
Revenue from the IVL is invested in New Zealand’s natural environment, conservation projects, and tourism infrastructure — helping to protect what makes New Zealand so remarkable to visit.
For current IVL fee details, see the Visa Fees page.
